Three reasons why you need to add gargling with salt water to you daily routine.

Updated: Mar 12

Often these days we are looking for the next big thing in wellness, the next thing to add to our routine to achieve optimum health. Are we forgetting the simple remedies? This article will give you three really good reasons for adding salt water gargling to your daily routine.

Studies support that gargling every day with salt water is effective for good oral health and has additional benefits for avoiding infections and reducing inflammatory pain.

You need to add Gargling with Salt Water to you daily routine

Salt is known to be anti-bacterial and anti-viral so gargling with salt water loosens mucus, helping to flush out irritants or bacteria. If you gargle every day with salt it can reduce the chance of infections establishing in the mouth and throat such as oral bacterial and viral infections, colds, flus, and strep throat.

Salt water is anti-inflammatory so several studies have found that gargling several times a day with warm salt water can reduce swelling and pain in the throat.

Salt has been scientifically proven to help draw water out of oral tissues, while creating a salt barrier that locks out water and harmful pathogens from getting back inside. It also can be helpful for allergies, canker sores, and improving oral health.

Add 1 teaspoon of Himalayan Salt to a glass of water and mix thoroughly.

Gargle the water in the back of your throat for as long as you can handle.

Swish the water around the mouth and teeth before spitting it out into a sink is recommended.

You can swallow it if you want but I would avoid it if you are fighting an oral or throat infection.
